This week’s pick is a favorite of many – yet many do not recognize it when they see it. It’s Metasequoia glyptostroboides, or commonly known as Dawn Redwood. A faster growing deciduous evergreen (similar in appearance to Bald Cypress), this bold specimen works well for larger lawns, parks, golf courses, groves, specimen or screening, and actually can be used as a street tree. Reddish brown bark, deep furrowed, wonderful needles (drop in the fall) and just overall gorgeous tree. And yes, it will tolerate moist areas.

‘Gold Rush’ (also called ‘Ogon’), as well as weeping and dwarf selections!
