Trump Calls For End to Florida Recount

President Donald Trump called for Florida to stop a legally mandated recount of ballots and go with the winners declared on Election night in races for governor and the U.S. Senate, Monday morning.

Trump wrote on Twitter that Republican Rick Scott who was in a close race to unseat Democrat Sen. Bill Nelson and Republican Ron DeSantis, a congressman running against Democrat Andrew Gillum for the governor's seat, should both be declared the winner of their respective race, because the ballots were 'massively infected'.

The Florida Election should be called in favor of Rick Scott and Ron DeSantis in that large numbers of new ballots showed up out of nowhere, and many ballots are missing or forged. An honest vote count is no longer possible-ballots massively infected. Must go with Election Night!

Florida has began a state-mandated recount of more than 8 million votes cast in last Tuesday's midterm election. It's the first statewide recount in the state's history (the recount for the 2000 presidential election was a federal election). The recount will look at close races, including the U.S. Senate, Governor's seat, the state race for agriculture commissioner, and several other close state-level offices.

Elections officials say that not all ballots have necessarily arrived for counting. Florida accepts ballots from military and overseas voters postmarked Nov. 6 until Nov. 16.

In the senate race between Democrat Sen. Bill Nelson and Republican Gov. Rick Scott, Scott has a thin lead of 15,000 votes, less than .25% of the vote.

The difference in votes in the governor's race between Democratic Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum and Republican former Rep. Ron DeSantis is larger with DeSantis holding a head of .4%, or nearly 36,000 votes.

Attorneys on both sides have descended on Broward and Palm Beach counties Saturday morning as they scramble to tally ballots and challenge those that leave the intent or eligibility of the voter in question.

The recount was ordered by Florida's secretary of state on Saturday.
