COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS RECALL DEFENSEMAN GAVIN BAYREUTHER FROM AHL’S CLEVELAND MONSTERS

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled defenseman Gavin Bayreuther from the Cleveland Monsters, the club’s American Hockey League affiliate, General Manager and Alternate Governor Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.  

Bayreuther, 28, has posted three goals and 11 assists for 14 points with 39 penalty minutes, 84 shots and a cumulative +1 plus/minus rating in 71 career games with the Blue Jackets and Dallas Stars since making his NHL debut in 2018-19.  Signed as a free agent with Columbus on Oct. 9, 2020, the 6-1, 196-pound blueliner has totaled 1-8-9 and 29 PIM in 52 appearances over the past two seasons with the club.  He set career highs in assists, points, PIM and games played in 2021-22, finishing with 0-8-8 and 22 PIM in 43 contests.

The Canaan, New Hampshire native has added 25-84-109, 120 penalty minutes and an “even” plus/minus rating in 220 career AHL games since making his pro debut at the end of the 2016-17 campaign.  He has collected 0-3-3 and two penalty minutes in three outings with the Monsters in 2022-23.
